What Does Radiator Work Cost?
Radiator and steam heat work runs $700 to $2,000 for most jobs.
Bleeding, vents, traps, and valve replacements sit at the low end. Repairs that involve draining and refilling the system cost more.
Radiator replacement sits at the upper end of the range per unit installed, depending on size and type. Cast iron costs more than panel radiators but matches the originals.
Baseboard conversion is quoted per project. Room count, pipe routing, and whether the boiler needs changes all drive the number, so we look before we quote.

Why is my radiator cold when the boiler is running?
Usually trapped air on hot-water systems or a failed vent on steam. Both are quick fixes. If one radiator is cold, it’s local. If a whole floor is cold, the problem is likely balancing or the boiler itself. We diagnose before touching anything, so you pay to fix the actual cause.
Can you stop the banging in my pipes?
Yes. On steam systems, banging almost always means condensate is pooling where it shouldn’t, usually from bad pipe pitch or a flooded radiator. Correcting the pitch or the trap ends it. Homeowners in Fall River triple-deckers ask us this every winter, and it’s fixable.
Do you work on steam heat?

Should I convert my radiators to baseboard?
It depends on why. Radiators actually heat older homes in New Bedford and Taunton better than baseboard in many cases, and originals add character. Conversion makes sense in renovations, when radiators block layouts, or when the piping is failing. We’ll give you an honest read either way.
Can I get more heat out of an existing radiator?
Sometimes. Bleeding air, fixing vents, and balancing the system recover output you already paid for. A radiator that’s simply too small for the room needs replacement or a supplemental source. We measure before recommending, so the fix matches the problem.
Do you replace radiator valves?
Yes, both steam and hot-water valves, including thermostatic valves that give each room its own control. A leaking valve wastes water and stains floors, and it doesn’t fix itself. Call (508) 501-7424 before a slow leak becomes a ceiling repair on the floor below.
